No.39, Glategny Esplanade |
This house is part of the Loveridge Bequest and is one of a row of houses built in the mid 19th century and could have originally been a fisherman's cottage and opens right onto the street. At some time another house has been built behind no.39 and the only access is right through the front house - which means that coal, dustbins, builders' materials, etc, all have to be carried through the hallway from the street. Probably at one time access was possible from the back but not now. The cottage at the back also belongs to the Trust and in 1999 was refurbished and was let after standing empty for some years. No 39 is let to two tenants, both of whom have use of certain rooms.
