The National Trust of Guernsey is a purely Bailiwick organisation with its own constitution and funds. It is a registered charity that is wholly independant and relies for its finances entirely on gifts, legacies, members' subscriptions and annual fund raising. At its foundation Trust funds amounted to just £7; today its annual income and expenditure account reflects considerably greater sums. In keeping with its aims and mandate, all monies received are budgeted and professionally audited on an annual basis to ensure that all expenditure is directed towards the good houskeeping of all sites. Sums not needed are put aside as investments to provide for future purchases as and when it may become necessary. Membership is open to all bona-fideBailiwick of Guernsey residents and is an investment in the future through an extremely moderate subscription. The Trusts influence is only as strong as the size of its membership, and the loyal band of volunteers who assist in all the Trusts activities. Membership entitles free entry at most National Trust properties in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland on presentation of membership card. Subscriptions, however, stay in the island.
