"To arouse and stir public opinion in an endeavour to preserve the remaining natural beauty of the island; to prevent the further desecration of houses and properties of historic and architectural merit; and to create machinery to acquire and hold in perpetuity; whether by bequest, gift or purchase, on behalf of the Island, all manner of real property which, in the opinion of the Trust Council, should be preserved in its natural condition and/or state." |
